In my previous article I looked at the importance of mind-set for weight loss. We discussed how your current subconscious programming really determines your weight and if you want to lose weight permanently then you need to start working at the source of the problem.
So how exactly can you achieve this?
Well, one of the best techniques that I have come across for long term weight loss is known as 'self-talk'. This may well be something that you have heard of before and it can have a profoundly positive impact on your mind-set, and therefore your weight, when usd properly. Lets take a look at how we can use this technique for lasting weight loss success.
As I have previously mentioned in another article, your programming will come from various different sources, such as what people say to you and about you, what you do, and what you say to yourself. This last one is what we are focusing on here. Lets look at an example - what you say to yourself 'I am never going to lose weight forever' or 'this new diets not going to work for me' you are actually programming that into your subconscious, making it a reality. Self talk will help you to change all of that around.
The first thing that you need to do, therefore, is evaluate what your current self talk is like. One way of doing this is simply by noting down all internal comment you make regarding your weight, exericse, dieting and so on. Note down all of the phrases you hear for three days and you'll start to build a picture of what your internal dialogue is like.
After 3 days, evaluate what you've written down. Is this the sort of programming that you want to be logging into your subconscious, the driving force behind everything you do? If you answer no to that question, and the majority will, then you're going to need to do something about it.
First up, look at all of the negative selk talk phrases you have written down and make them positive. Write down the exact opposite of what you have on the page. So, a phrase like 'I have eating healthily' will become 'I love eating healthily'. If you do that to all of your phrases you'll start to build a better picture of what you should be programming into your subconscious.
Ok so the next step is to read out these positive messages each day. In order to alter your programming you need to be consistent so read them each day, preferably in front of the mirror. Also, make sure that you speak the phrases out loud and with conviction. As you start doing this you will then begin to be able to actually 'edit' your own self talk as you say it. This will help to the long term changes in your programming that we are looking for.
Use this technique regularly and you will see amazing changes to your mind-set. This will allow you to build that super strong foundation for permanent weight loss success.
