Ok, I'm just going to come out and answer this question right now. Yes. Mind-set is not only important for weight loss...its absolutely critical and essential. It is, in the fact, the foundation of all of your weight loss success.
In order to consider this in greater details, it is important that we look at programming. So, what exactly is programming? Well, what we are really talking about here at the end of the day is your subconscious mind. This is where your programs are stored and its the driving force behind any success that you experience. Your path will be determined by your subconscious, whether this is towards weight loss success of failure.
So where does this 'programming' come from? Well, essentially everything that we hear, everything that we say, everything that we do...will all be programs that are stored within our subconscious and this creates our beliefs. So, lets say you're told by people that diets don't work. You will then start to believe this yourself and will begin saying it to yourself with your own internal dialogue. All of this will add up to create this subconscious belief that dieting doesn't work.
Your beliefs will then be shaped into your attitudes and in this scenario you will begin to have a bad attitude towards dieting. Your attitudes will then be shaped into your feelings and these will determine the actions that you take. So if you don't have positive feelings towards dieting and weight loss then you will never be able to take the appropriate actions to lose weight and keep it off.
All of this, therefore, starts with your programming. If you have spent years battling against your weight then your programming will be all wrong. It will be preventing you from achieving your conscious goal of long term weight loss.
As they say, what you believe, you will achieve. This works both ways. Its used as a motivational quote but if your programming and, therefore, beliefs are negative, then it will result in a negative response. You will always remain overweight if your programming and mind-set are not tackled head on.
