How to Get Motivation for Weight Loss

There are many people out there considering weight loss and have the confidence to get started but they do not know why they should lose the weight or they are just not motivated to get started with the weight loss programs. The reason for this is because they are all over the place in terms of what they will want to achieve out of these weight loss programs. They are lost at the sea of possibilities, so to speak. The first thing you will need to do in order to gain the motivation you need to start losing weight is to come up with a reason to start losing weight.

For example, are you losing weight to feel more confident to start dating again? To get into your favorite pair of jeans? To feel sexy for your husband or wife? Because the doctor told you you're pre-diabetic but that there is still a chance to turn it around? Because you're sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? These are all very good and valid reasons to start losing weight. Now that you have your reasons to start losing the weight, you will have to reinforce this idea so you will actually start taking action instead of just sitting around hoping to lose the weight. There are two types of reinforcement. Some people are more naturally motivated towards pleasure (the thought of looking great in a summer dress, meeting a guy/girl, running a 10K), while others are more motivated away from pain (being single forever, having to start taking insulin, having to see their high school friends while being heavy). Figure out which type of person you are in terms of the motivational factor and start applying it to yourself. Lets just say that you want to try out one of these weight loss programs but are either too lazy or making excuses for yourself, start applying the reinforcements.

Start thinking what might happen if you do not try the programs or what will happen if you do and I will guarantee you will start getting motivated to take action. Now that you have the reinforcement part down find out the consequences of not taking action by creating a negative image of yourself in the future if you decide to not lose the weight or change your lifestyle. What opportunities will you lose out on? Maybe the ability to enjoy healthy time with your family late into your life? Or maybe it'll mean you continue to go out to go to restaurants and take vacations by yourself. How will your health deteriorate if you don't lose weight? What does the hospital room look like where you'll have to go for dialysis treatments? These are all compelling images that no one wants happening to themselves which is a good motivator. Now that you have created this motivation for yourself, stop letting time slip and start with these weight loss programs to get your life back on track.
