The Characteristics Of A Christian Healing Ministry

By Connie Sears

Many Christians believe that healing from physical or mental problems is available to those whose faith is strong. For this reason, numerous individuals seek the advice of a Christian healing ministry, or go to the latter for prayer. Over the years, various men and women have cited healings from a variety of illnesses, such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, and heart problems.

Many proponents of the Christian faith believe that all kinds of miracles can be received if they ask Jesus for healing. Indeed, many New Testament Scriptures provide a foundation for this belief. There are numerous passages in the Bible that state when Jesus was crucified that he not only saved the human race from sin, but he also took on disease and infirmity as well. This is overtly stated in verses such as Matthew, chapter 8, verse 16, where Isaiah 53:4-12 is quoted. The Scripture states that all such afflictions were borne by Christ on the cross.

In additional Scriptures, including James 5:14, it states that through the laying on of hands miracles occur and people are set free from illnesses and afflictions. No chapter or verse in the New Testament indicates that anyone was ever denied healing if they had faith and believed in God. Particularly the texts of Mark 11:23 and Matthew 21:21 make this very clear.

As one would suspect, miracles go beyond the natural realm. For this reason, numerous ministries tell people not to limit God's based on natural circumstances. Instead, if one's faith is strong, the miracle will come if the afflicted person believes and confesses his or her belief.

Proponents of this doctrine believe the days of miracles have not passed by. A Scripture frequently used to back this up as Hebrews chapter 13, verse 8, which states that Jesus Christ never changes, and therefore the healings He provided in the past, He will provide in the future. In another passage, Acts 10:38, it states that Jesus traveled around healing everyone who was oppressed by the devil or demon. Many Christian state that in today's modern times, such miracles are still available.

Because faith is involved with miracles, individuals should not let negative influences affect them and a weaken their beliefs. Naysayers and unbelievers often state that God only provides miracles for certain individuals, leaving others behind. However, ACTS 10:34 refutes this theory, as it states that God is not a "respect or of persons". The modern-day translation of that verse simply means that God will not favor one person over another. Instead, the miracle is up to how strongly one believes God's word.

It is also imperative that one realize money is not a factor regarding miracles. In fact, a sorcerer named Simon in the eighth chapter of ACTS, verse twenty, was severely rebuked for trying to buy the gift of God with money. Sending money to a certain ministry has nothing to do with receiving a miracle.

When searching for a Christian healing ministry, one should look for a church or center that believes in miracles are for everyone. The person should also do everything possible to build his or her faith, and refuse to listen to those who are skeptical. Many people have received healing from God, and this is what the afflicted individual should dwell on when waiting for his or her own miracle.
