Emotional therapy is a process that involves healing the emotions rather than the mind. The process is all about addressing the feelings of a person and how they affect their normal conduct. The goal is to facilitate self improvement and personal development in a short period of time. The reason for its existence is based on the theory that feelings are innately behind the habits and behavior of people.

It differs greatly from traditional, psychological therapy. The main difference lies in the amount of time taken. While some treatments may take years in the psychological dynamic, emotional therapy sessions range from eight to twenty in more than seventy percent of cases. Another disparity lies in the fact that, emotional treatment tries to determine the reasons behind the sensations and feelings of a person and not how their brain functions.

It employs emotional freedom techniques. These techniques range from simple verbal methods, where the counselor simply gets the patient to talk and get through the problem, to other more complex processes. These include: neuron linguistic programming, acupuncture, thought filled therapy, among others. The aim of these procedures is to facilitate release of negative emotions and beliefs that are innately the root of all problems.

Since the procedure enables the undoing of damage from the past, its main merit is that, the person has no desire to resume old habits which ensures complete healing. Most patients have claimed no internal struggles that previously existed. The result is an overall sense of well being and a state of being emotionally healthy. In this procedure, the patient is unable to hide any sensation from the therapist and this is what ensures complete healing. For instance, in acupuncture, the ability of the counselor, to tap certain parts of the body creating involuntary responses from the patient cause full disclosure, thus successful treatment.

Some of the issues treated using this process are weight loss inability, feeling stuck, inability to make decisions, drug and other forms of addiction and so on. These are things that are often difficult to treat, but, the procedure involves a disassociation exercise that leaves the patient feeling no desire to engage in the negative activities. The therapist may find a way for the patient to associate their bad behavior to pain, or a good behavior to pleasure. Once a person is able to regulate their emotions to the positive side, the healing process is subsequently rapid.

The treatment is quick and effective. The therapist is in control of the situation in most cases and does not have to rely on the patient to open up. On identification of the cause of the problem, the healing process is quite rapid which makes it even more beneficial.

The field has continued to expand over the years. More experts and therapists have continued to come up with better healing methods of treatment. Since the procedures have proved advantageous, a lot of money has been poured into research leading to even more advanced progressions. The minimal dependence on drugs makes it cheaper to fund and facilitate.

The technique has proved successful and positive over time. Its results are not falsifiable making it a leading option to dealing with all kinds of distress in a scientific way. Emotional therapy is hence beneficial as it takes less time, less money and is generally more effective.
