All of the severe conditions that a person can suffer from always involve a major organ that the body needs to function properly. The lungs are the usual target of serious diseases. When this happens, the person can die instantly but there are also others who have survived but they need to have constant air supply for them to continue breathing.

One thing that can be considered fortunate is the innovations for medical facilities in the past years. The portable oxygen tank is one product of such innovations. And these devices have allowed those who are suffering from lung condition to freely move from one place to another instead of being stationary on one place.

When choosing a device to supply air, you first need to determine whether you need the continuous flow or the pulse flow. Continuous flow of oxygen means that the device will continue to supply the lungs with oxygen regardless if you are inhaling or not. The pulse flow on the other hand, will only supply air when it is triggered by inhalation.

A pulse flow tank has a conserver inside it so that the oxygen is regulated. This way it is easier to conserve air and the supply can last 5 times more than those without conservers. But those who have more serious conditions need to be in the continuous flow when they are sleeping since there is a chance that the oxygen inhaled would not be enough due to shallow breaths when sleeping.

Even if you have a portable tank with you, there are still restrictions to the things that you can do. You can have the the privilege of traveling but you still need to know if your body can take the travel. It can be a risky move which is why you need to check in with your physician first.

Having a portable tank with you can be a huge advantage when you want to travel. You should ask advice from the doctor first before you decide to go on a vacation because it might no be safe for you. If you are allowed to travel, you must not forget to bring important documents with you, that is documents other than your travel papers.

One of the most important paper that you have to carry with you is a documentation for your portable tank. You can ask for a letter from your tank provider. It can also be the sales invoice when you purchased it.

You will be bringing a handful of documents with you so be sure to have a room in the luggage where you can put it in an organized manner. Always have important phone numbers at the ready. The contact information of your physician should always be in speed dial. You should also bring more than one identification card.

You should also have a space for all your meds. Do not take medical supply that is enough for the duration of the travel. Always have a spare. You can never tell if you will be delayed or not. It always pay to be prepared. You should also ask for a documentation from your doctor so that you will have the clearance to use your oxygen device while aboard the plane.
