Why Beauty Matters

By Alistair Nole

It's more accepted these days that certain signs of aging, such as wrinkles or a loss of elasticity in the skin, are best treated in consultation with a cosmetic surgeon. To get the results that you want, proper treatment will provide the correct course of action to target excessive skin or a loss of collagen in certain parts of the face. In the past ten years, there has been dramatic growth in the number of treatment options available, and they are becoming even more popular. What is it that motivates people today to have treatments done?

One factor at the heart of many people's decision to seek treatments is their self esteem. A confidence boost and less self-consciousness are what some look for. In particular, one might feel their nose is conspicuous or large. Whether true or not, if one believes this to be true, the perception can create the reality and cause discomfort and anxiety. For some who work very hard through diet, exercise, makeup, clothes, etc, to look their best, a problem or flaw that they can improve upon, or an area that they would like to make just a bit better can be quite important. The level of importance goes up a few notches when this is linked to sexuality.

A change can actually bring about an increase in a person's sense of improvement in quality of life or work. This can include things like wearing the type of clothes or bathing suits you want to wear. Or you would like to feel good about the body that you have because you like going to the beach. Perhaps you deal with the public a lot or have a very public job. The decision is affected by all these considerations.

Vanity is one of the top motivators and it can be closely connected with self esteem. A desire to get back a lost positive attribute is not unusual. For example, my lips always had volume but now... , my figure was always nice but now.... When you lose an attribute on which you had positive reinforcement over the years, it's like losing your identity.

It's completely normal to want to slow down, reverse or turn back those effects of aging that start to show up, or have been creeping up for some time. Moreover, wanting to alter or improve a feature that you have always disliked is equally natural. This can be an issue of maturity-- you thought about it a lot when you were younger and after years of reflection have realized that it definitely is something you would like improved.

Health reasons are definitely a motivator. The various unpleasant postpartum changes to the body can be depressing for any mom. It could also be necessary to relieve physical factors or symptoms, as well as the real tangible benefit that comes with correcting post-weight loss body changes. For example, a breast reduction could alleviate chronic recurrent headaches, neck strain, lower back pain, shoulder notching, numbing or tingling in the hands due to nerve stretch-- all of these are associated with mammary hypertrophy--or excessively large, heavy, dense breasts. A breast reduction procedure completely remedies almost all of these problems.

Dramatic changes in life are another motivating factor. Sometimes people feel like their divorce shows on their face, or that their work or other substantial stresses of life have aged them. For anyone looking to make those changes or small corrections, whatever the reasons, there are clear, safe and affordable options available.
