Space Food - How it's made

By Terrance Franklin

Did you know how astronauts eat their meals if they're in space? Ever wondered how they may intake and consume their food while hovering on air, weightless. The secret is in the preparing. We usually eat our food with our feet on the ground however it is different while you are away from earth. There are points to consider about how foods are prepared - this involves the selection approach, storage units, and the proper amount of nutritional requirements. Space Food is a bit more intricate than our typical stuff.

Ordinarily, we create our foods by grilling or preserving but not for astronauts. They can pick which food to consume though it must be prepared eight to nine months prior to the mission. How challenging can these preparations be? Look at it this way, after we make our food items, how many times do we think how many calories there are? Or are we even conscious about the vitamins and minerals each food is made up of? I'd say very little to no. Space foods are prepared not through the chef from your most costly restaurant around but by dietitians, engineers and food analysts grouped together. Is it possible to imagine what a space food feels like or its flavor?

Even so, the joint effort should make sure that every astronaut is taking in the correct diet essential for their body to adapt to the space environment. One of these is the intake of iron. Should you be in space, you will have a fewer number of red blood cells. Consequently you may need less iron when you find yourself out there than while you are here. With reference to how these food types could be eaten, since it is impossible for you to cook it out and about, space foods have been pre-cooked and packed one by one. Astronauts can take advantage of their favorite food by heating or simply adding boiling water.

For anyone who is considering how dull the space food experience might be for any astronauts and if you are feeling sorry on their behalf simply because can't eat serious food, well rethink it. Space foods aren't in reality specialized foods but the same food items we have within our grocers. What about Tortillas? Shrimp rolls? Hot spices? Fat free yogurt? Cookies? H2o? Soda pop? Fruit drinks? They could have it all in space. But because they are on outer space, those foods will really look dull inside their packing containers but they certainly will taste exactly the same just like the way they taste here on the planet. I'm wondering if any astronauts would likely still lobby for that good food.

Space Food has gone a long way from flavorless to flavorful nowadays. Since the very first out of space exploration, variations have been introduced to make the food palatable. Although the astronauts can never eat the food the same way that we do, at least the food will not taste any farther than it does here. Although the astronauts are miles away from earth, bringing with them something that is earthly, just like the food that we have will make them feel that they are somehow, not really far away from home.
